The first assessment tool I used was Quizlet. Quizlet allows you to create classes and distribute assignments to each individual class. It is a great study tool and even generates test for teachers and students to use/take. One issue I found is any questions that have dates for answers have to be exactly as the answer was placed when building the quizlet or it will be marked wrong. For example, one question was “When did Japan attack Pearl Harbor?” If a student answers December 7, 1941 then the question will be marked wrong because the student did not include the “th” after the 7. When creating assignments Quizlet has many questions already created that can be used when building an exam or assignment. This was nice because some of my wording was not quite as sharp as the already created questions. The questions already made also have the answers made as well so it makes creating a test extremely easy.

The other assessment tool I used to create a quize was on Quizizz.com. This website was extremely easy to use. It also had the option of creating a class. Once you create a class you have the ability to invite anyone to join the class by email which would make life simple. Creating the quiz was extremely easy. I simply typed my question in the section for the question and then provided four answers in the answer blanks. Then I selected the correct answer and saved the question. It then took me to where I can create another question. Each quiz is given its own shareable link which can be sent out, however as a teacher I would rather just assign the quiz to my class that was created in the Quizizz website.

Jefferson, I LOVE quizlet! You mentioned in another thread that you teach high school kids and I think it is an excellent resource. In fact, when I was reinstating my teacher certification, I struggled reading the actual books and quizlet was a great help! It was especially helpful to take more of a practice test than just reading a book. I hadn’t heard of quizizz but it sounds pretty cool as well and it seems like it would make creating assessments much easier. Great post!

I really enjoyed using quizlet as well. I see lots of my students using this, so I went ahead and started making my own. They were using it for my class on a regular basis, so why not go ahead make it a thing. I love how quizlet gives possible answers when you type in a specific word or topic. I dont always have the best answers so we can rely on quizlet’s bank of answers for that. We dont have spend time going back and forth to our book or the internet for the perfect answers. Quizlet has really helped out my lessons. I also used quizlet as one of my assessment tools.

I am pretty new at quizlet and I didn’t know that the flashcard feature was a thing. I think that this tool could definitely assist in studying. I love that you incorporate this into classes you have taught. I think this is a great way to be able to understand the learning level of a classroom and be able to asses where one, as an instructor, could be able to identify areas of revision.
